Voice-Controlled Cloud with AWS Lambda

Last year, along with Data Solutions Group (DSG), and with the support of Amazon Web Services (AWS), I ran a presentation on Voice-Controlled Cloud Solutions using AWS Lambda. I gave a demonstration, showing how an Amazon Echo could be used to control Megaport’s advanced SDN fabric with nothing but a few voice commands. Following that, Nick Poole from DSG showed how Amazon’s voice assistant, Alexa, along with the Lambda serverless compute service, were used to make the magic happen.

This whole topic is of great interest to us at Megaport. Just recently, AWS announced a Cloud Logic integration that will make it even easier to integrate Lambda Serverless Compute stacks with Mobile Applications. This is only going to further fuel the growth of the IoT space, and makes Lambda even more interesting for businesses involved in this area. Lambda is the future of expanded functionality with many applications, and it was a great experience to pioneer a demonstration that capitalized on this forward thinking field.

After running the demonstration in Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney, we noticed that interest had grown exponentially. So, for our presentation in Perth we got a camera team along to film the whole thing, and I’ve got it linked for you below in case you didn’t get a chance to attend.
