Rapid, Agile, and Reliable Connectivity from Australia-New Zealand to North America

The Megaport Network is bridging the geographical gap between multinational cloud access capabilities by delivering Software-Defined Networking (SDN) capacity between Sydney, Australia and Los Angeles, USA. The introduction of this new international route enables rapid, agile, and reliable connectivity between two major regions; Australia-New Zealand and North America.

Our established Australian market will now have the ability to access key cloud nodes outside of the Australia-New Zealand (ANZ) region. Until now, our ANZ customers could exclusively provision our services within their region, conducting cloud-based activity in their own backyard. Our new route enables access to any cloud node across the Megaport platform, generating the perfect conditions for existing customers to drive their business to international markets, expand their enterprise, and generate new opportunities in the USA. They can take advantage of multiple major Service Providers and partners over a large inclusive network through one single platform.

The Sydney to LA link is particularly significant considering our recent collaboration with Oracle Cloud. Our Ecosystem has grown to include Oracle Cloud as part of our North American Megaport network. The ability to leverage Oracle’s Bare Metal Cloud infrastructure, FastConnect, is valuable for our global Ecosystem as it enables customers to access one of the most prominent global Cloud Service Providers from anywhere in the world. This expansion also contributes to the provisioning of multi-cloud connectivity, with hybrid cloud capabilities, whereby customers can leverage both private and public cloud options over various different Service Providers.

“The decision to go with Megaport in order to leverage scalable international capacity was an easy one to make. Over the last year with Megaport, we’ve found them to be experts in NaaS (Network-as-a-Service). The team’s expertise, coupled with the cost savings of a true consumption based model, give us full confidence in using them for our Australian Cloud connections, and also for this international connection.” – Ricki Cook, Network Architect at Hillsong
