We’ve deepened our partnership with Microsoft to accelerate enterprise consumption of Azure services.

Launching ExpressRoute in 2014, Microsoft has evolved the service far beyond an alternative network access point to Azure over the public internet. Developing and expanding their networking capabilities, the company has produced a number of new services over the years with some more recent feature enhancements including but not limited to: Virtual WAN, ExpressRoute Direct, Azure Firewall, and Azure Front Door to further enhance their portfolio. This suite of services has allowed customers to deploy richer applications in the cloud.

Today, Microsoft announced the Azure Networking Managed Service Provider Program at Inspire, their annual global partner event. Megaport was selected to participate in this new program as a launch partner and become an Expert Azure Networking Managed Service Provider due to the team’s deep knowledge and expertise around Azure Networking.

Microsoft acknowledges that networking can be complex whether you’re migrating, optimising, or securing workloads within Azure IaaS, PaaS, or SaaS services. At the same time, optimal cloud networking is critical to success when undertaking these strategies. The Azure Networking Managed Service Provider Program will break down existing barriers to cloud networking and ease the complexities of end-to-end cloud solutions for organisations. Customers will now be able to more easily discover and engage with Azure MSPs

The years of experience shared across our highly skilled solutions architect teams, coupled with our API integration with Microsoft, has made networking more accessible for our customers while improving and optimising their application performance. Here are a few Megaport customer stories that showcase successful enterprise deployments:

Zuellig Pharma, one of Asia’s largest healthcare services group successfully migrated their 65 TB SAP landscape – which included their logistics operations, warehouse activities, and transactional activities – to Azure, reducing the overall cutover time by 30% and latency by 75%. Peninsula Canada, a group that’s reshaping the Canadian HR service landscape, engaged Megaport along with our local Canadian partner, Beanfield, to help them rapidly scale as their teams grew. With our networking solution, they reduced overall latency times by 90% to Azure and O365 services to just 2ms. Read the full case study here.

The Megaport / Microsoft Partnership Evolution

Back in 2015, Megaport enabled its first location in Sydney, Australia and our partnership with Microsoft began. From here, we’ve enabled over 31 ExpressRoute locations, providing the greatest ExpressRoute coverage of any network provider. This includes the following metros:

Americas: Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Silicon Valley, San Antonio, Las Vegas, Montreal, Seattle, Toronto, Quebec City

Asia Pacific: Auckland, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, Singapore

Europe: Amsterdam, Berlin, Dubai, Frankfurt, Dublin, London

As the demand for cloud connectivity rapidly increased, we introduced additional capacity to support customer demand and heavier workloads. We’ve invested in supporting 100G ExpressRoute Port Capacity in key markets including Ashburn, Chicago, Dallas, Sydney, Silicon Valley, Singapore, and Toronto with more locations enabled soon. We extended these capabilities to our customers in response to their requirements for improved latency and higher availability in their applications within Azure.

Now, we’re excited to be deepening our partnership with Microsoft once more by providing organisations with the managed services they need to achieve optimised cloud networking.
