Megaport Achieves SOC 2 Type 2 Compliance

Megaport Achieves SOC 2 Type 2 Compliance

By Amanda Pinaud Diaz, Head of Cyber Security Compliance

Here’s how Megaport’s new certification gives customers more confidence in the security, availability, and reliability of our platform.

Trust is built into infrastructure long before anyone notices it.

It sits behind the login screen, inside the change process, across the controls that keep systems protected and services available. It shows up in the quiet, operational work that customers rarely see but rely on every day.

That is why we are pleased to share that Megaport has successfully completed its SOC 2 Type 2 audit.

What is SOC 2?

SOC 2 is a widely recognized framework for assessing the controls service organizations use to protect customer data and systems. Developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), SOC reporting helps organizations demonstrate how they manage system-level controls across areas like security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy.

For Megaport customers, this SOC 2 compliance milestone provides independent, third-party confirmation that our security and availability controls are operating effectively over time.

Why SOC 2 Type 2 matters

Networks have become the connective tissue of modern business. Clouds, data centers, partners, applications, and users are highly distributed and the systems linking them together need to be fast, flexible, and dependable.

That puts more pressure on the infrastructure layer. Customers need to know their providers have the controls, processes, and discipline to support critical environments.

A SOC 2 Type 1 report assesses controls at a specific point in time. But SOC 2 Type 2 goes further, reviewing how those controls perform across a defined audit period. This matters because consistency is the real test. Security and availability are not one-time exercises; they depend on repeatable processes and controls that hold up under everyday use.

What was assessed

During the audit period, an independent auditor assessed Megaport against the SOC 2 Trust Services Criteria in two key areas:

  1. Security: How Megaport protects systems against unauthorized access, use, or modification.
  2. Availability: Whether Megaport’s services are available for operation and use as committed.

These areas are central to the way customers use Megaport. Our platform helps organizations deploy automated infrastructure on demand, including private network connectivity across a global ecosystem of data centers, cloud providers, service providers, and partners.

When customers connect critical workloads and environments with Megaport, they’re trusting us with an important part of their infrastructure strategy. SOC 2 Type 2 compliance gives them another layer of assurance that the systems behind that experience have been independently reviewed.

What this means for customers

SOC 2 Type 2 compliance gives customers a clearer view of how Megaport operates behind the scenes.

For procurement, security, compliance, and network teams, the report can support vendor due diligence and risk assessment. For the people building and running infrastructure, it reinforces the reliability of the platform they depend on to connect clouds, data centers, applications, and partners.

That confidence matters as infrastructure gets more distributed. Enterprises are no longer operating in one cloud, one region, or one neatly contained environment. They are building across multiple clouds, data centers, edge locations, and service ecosystems. The network has to keep up without introducing avoidable complexity or risk.

Megaport helps teams move quickly while keeping control. SOC 2 Type 2 compliance supports that promise by validating the controls that help protect systems and maintain availability across our platform.

Built for trust

Megaport was built to make infrastructure faster and easier to deploy. But speed only works when customers can trust what sits underneath it.

Completing our SOC 2 Type 2 audit is an important milestone for Megaport and for the customers who rely on our platform. It reflects the security, availability, and operational discipline behind the services we provide every day, and gives Megaport customers another reason to build with confidence.
