APRICOT and Kiwis

Just wow, what a great event our Kiwi friends put on. Over two weeks in February our friends at InternetNZ hosted the Asia Pacific Regional Internet Conference on Operational Technologies APRICOT 2016 in Auckland, the first time it had been held in New Zealand.

With 531 delegates having attended representing 53 economies it really is a great event to both learn and network. Whether you are involved in Internet Operations, are looking to polish up your BGP skills or want to learn more about current IPv4 allocation policies there are plenty of interesting sessions. If you are like me you’ll probably find yourself torn between multiple sessions at the same time that you really want to attend!

Megaport was stoked to be able to sponsor what we believed would be the most popular drop-in location at the venue – the Espresso Cart. After the Espresso machine got a work out we delivered over 1,100 cups of great coffee.

Mid week we organised a sneaky little get together for the peering community and industry friends. Coming in at around 80-90 people it probably ended up neither sneaky nor little, but was great to see so many people from diverse backgrounds and businesses networking.

Next year APRICOT will be held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from 20th February to 3rd March 2017. I’ve never been to Vietnam. See you there? I’m sure we’ll host another sneaky little get together!
