Today we’re excited to announce that we’ve partnered with China’s leading Cloud Service Provider, Alibaba Cloud, enabling them to expand into other markets across our global cloud exchange. At Alibaba, they address the demand for multinationals outside of China to operate behind China’s firewall and likewise for local businesses looking to expand and operate IT resources globally.
By partnering with Megaport, Alibaba Cloud’s Express Connect enables customers to quickly and efficiently deploy and scale their businesses beyond the Asia-Pacific region to North America and Europe. This is an important development as Chinese cloud adoption escalates, including the demand for scalable cloud services in the online retail space. With Megaport and Alibaba Cloud’s private connection service, enterprises can increase the flexibility of their network topology, with interconnection across regions.
Alibaba Cloud’s Express Connect service enables full-network-access. Megaport will deliver connectivity to the Alibaba Cloud network from 150 locations globally. We’ve extended the same ease and security of connectivity to customers not in Alibaba enabled locations. This provides the same benefits of scalable bandwidth and control over cost and requirements and represents a major opportunity for the Megaport global Ecosystem to leverage Alibaba Cloud services.
Alibaba Cloud will be available across Megaport in four regions including Australia, North America, Europe, and Asia. The partnership cultivates cloud globalisation by reducing the complexity in gaining access to the Chinese market and expanding China’s international interconnectivity.
